A Choice of Tours

Experience the Red Deer Rut Tour - An unforgettable experience and one of nature’s most incredible moments in the wildlife calendar is the autumn red deer rut. Come and join Glenesk Wildlife this October and not only will you experience the sight and sound of red deer rutting but you will be wholly captivated from the moment you meet your guide Jackie by her incredible knowledge of these beautiful, majestic creatures.

The tour will begin at Tarfside car park in Glenesk where you will be met by your guide. You will be taken by 4×4 to a known spot where you will look and listen for the red deer stags. You will continue to drive and walk, looking out and listening for the stags’ bellow echoing around the hills. During the evening, you will be introduced to a Highland working pony (commonly known as Garrons), these ponies are still used on the estate to transport deer off the hill during the stalking season. You will eventually end up at Glenesk Bothy for a welcome hot drink and delicious cake where you will have a fun and informative chat about deer. There will be some interesting props and facts including deer behaviour, ecology and management.

An experience you will never forget and certainly one to add to the bucket list! Be sure to book soon, these tours will be popular!

  • Tours will run at 4 pm every Saturday and Sunday from 29th September – 28th October 2018.
  • Tours will last between 2-3 hours and must be booked in advance.

Walk With Nature – Guided Tours With A Difference – Andy will take you by Land Rover or on foot to some of the secret places of the Invermark Estate. You are likely to see some of our wonderful resident birds of prey and other moorland bird species, red and roe deer, perhaps a sunbathing adder and signs of plenty of small mammals and moorland predators. Camera at the ready, enjoy spectacular mountain views and hear Andy tell of the challenges and adventures of his life as a wildlife manager and gamekeeper.

Deer Stalking Experience  – Why not try our wild deer experience and take an in depth look into the subtle world of the highland deer manager? Hear about the trials and tribulations of maintaining a sustainable wild herd. Meet our garrons (working ponies) and pet stags. Get hands-on with the equipment used by a traditional estate. Then we will go to the hill and learn the tricks of the trade to help locate the wild deer herds. If time allows we will then stalk in close to deer for a photo opportunity.

Bespoke Tours – Perhaps you are looking for something a little different? You might like to spend a day photographing the incredible wildlife or spend the day walking with an experienced and knowledgeable guide at hand. Please tell us what you want and we will do our very best to tailor the tour to your requirements.

Both tours are available as a half day (4 hours) or full day experience (6 hours) and are for groups of 4 to 8. We reserve the right to select groups to ensure equal physical ability and shared interest.
